Distance Learning Courses

All Distance Learning courses have been approved by the California Department of Education. Curriculums follow the course outlines established by the Division of Adult and Career Education of the Los Angeles Unified School District.

ESL BEGINNING LOW (50-01-91)

Each Learning English unit consists of four 30-minute DVD/video lessons with support materials. There are 20 units in all. Each completed unit is credited as 10 hours of attendance.

 

ESL BEGINNING LOW (50-01-96)

Each Putting English to Work Level 1 unit consists of one 30-minute DVD lesson with support materials. There are 20 units in all. Each completed unit is credited as 10 hours of attendance.

 

ESL BEGINNING HIGH (50-01-92)

Each Putting English to Work Level 2 unit consists of one 30-minute video lesson with support materials. There are 24 units in all. Each completed unit is credited as 10 hours of attendance.

 

ESL INTERMEDIATE LOW (50-01-93)

Each Putting English to Work Level 3 unit consists of one 30-minute video lesson with support materials. There are 24 units in all. Each completed unit is credited as 10 hours of attendance.

 

ESL INTERMEDIATE HIGH A (50-01-94)

Each Connect with English unit consists of one 15-minute video lesson and support materials. There are 24 units in all. Each completed unit is credited as 10 hours of attendance.

 

ESL INTERMEDIATE HIGH B (50-01-95)

Each Connect with English unit continues with the next 24 episodes (Nos. 25-48) and support materials. Each completed unit is credited as 10 hours of attendance.

 

PARENT EDUCATION (51-07-93)

Each Parent Education/The Now and Future Parent unit consists of one 30-minute video lesson and support materials. Each completed unit is credited as 10 hours of attendance. There are 10 units in all. The completed course, with the appropriately credentialed teacher of record, earns 5 general elective credits towards a high school diploma. This course is also available in Spanish titled Los Padres De Hoy Y Del Mañana

 

PARENTING THE ADOLESCENT (51-05-93)

Each Parent Education/Surviving the Teen Years unit consists of one 30-minute video lesson and support materials. Each completed unit is credited as 12 hours of attendance. There are 10 units in all. The completed course, with the appropriately credentialed teacher of record, earns 10 general elective credits toward a high school diploma.

 

CITIZENSHIP (50-01-90)

Each U.S. Citizens unit consists of one 30-minute video lesson with support materials. Each completed unit is credited as 20 hours of attendance. There are 3 units in the course.

 

GED (30-50-93)

GED Connection consists of 39 DVD lessons (length of each DVD varies) and support materials. Each completed unit is credited as 10 hours of attendance.
